If you are trying to network a Humminbird HELIX unit, you need this adapter. The Humminbird AS EC QDE is a 12-inch adapter "dongle" that converts the proprietary, rectangular port on the back of your HELIX fish finder into the standard round, threaded connector used by Humminbird Ethernet cables.

Without this adapter, you cannot connect a HELIX to another fish finder, a 5-Port Ethernet Switch, or a Minn Kota i-Pilot Link trolling motor. (Note: The main Ethernet extension cable is sold separately).

🚨 NETWORKING RULE OF THUMB: You need exactly ONE (1) adapter cable for EVERY HELIX unit on your network. If you are trying to connect two HELIX screens together (e.g., Bow to Console), you must add TWO (2) of these AS EC QDE adapters to your cart, plus your main Ethernet Cable.

Why doesn't my Ethernet cable just plug right into the HELIX?

To keep the HELIX series compact and water-resistant, Humminbird uses a unique, low-profile rectangular connector on the back of the unit. Standard Humminbird Ethernet cables use a larger, round, threaded metal connector. The AS EC QDE dongle acts as the bridge between these two different port styles.

If I want to connect my console HELIX to my bow HELIX, what exactly do I need to buy?

You will need three separate items: Two (2) AS EC QDE adapter dongles (one to plug into the back of each HELIX), and one (1) standard Humminbird Ethernet cable (like the 20ft AS EC 20E) to run through the boat and connect the two dongles together.

Do I need this to connect my HELIX to a Minn Kota trolling motor?

Yes. If your Minn Kota has i-Pilot Link or Advanced GPS Navigation, the motor has a standard round Ethernet connector. You will need one (1) AS EC QDE adapter to plug into your HELIX, plus a standard Ethernet cable to bridge the distance between the adapter and the trolling motor's cable.
