No. This is an extension cable (Male-to-Female). To connect two units directly, you need a standard Ethernet cable (Male-to-Male), such as the AS EC 20E. This cable is only used to add length to an existing cable.
Do I need an adapter for my HELIX?
Yes. If you are plugging the end of this cable extension chain into a HELIX unit, you still need the AS EC QDE (Ethernet Dongle). The HELIX series does not have a native Ethernet port and always requires the dongle, regardless of cable length.
Is this waterproof?
Yes. The threaded connectors feature O-ring seals that make the connection waterproof. However, we recommend securing the connection point high in the gunwale or under the console to prevent it from sitting in standing water in the bilge.
