Frequently Asked Questions
Will this meter work on a 24-volt or 36-volt trolling motor system?
This meter is calibrated specifically for 12-volt batteries. If you have a 24V or 36V system, you cannot test the entire system at once. However, you can use this meter to test each individual 12-volt battery within that series one at a time.
Can I use this to test my Dakota Lithium batteries?
While it won't damage the meter to touch a 12V lithium battery, the "State of Charge" LED indicators (Full, 2/3, 1/3) will not be accurate. Lithium batteries hold a very steady, high voltage until they are almost completely dead, whereas this meter is calibrated to read the gradual voltage drop of traditional Lead-Acid and AGM batteries.
Does this meter require its own batteries to operate?
No. The digital meter is powered entirely by the 12-volt battery you are testing. The moment you touch the probes to the battery terminals, the screen will power on and display the reading.
