Humminbird MHX XMK - Kayak Transducer Mounting Kit
740103-1Compatibility:
Shoot Through Your Kayak Hull
If you want to add a fish finder to your kayak without drilling holes or having a transducer hanging over the side catching weeds, the Humminbird MHX XMK (740103-1) is the perfect solution. This kit allows you to mount a standard Humminbird transducer inside your kayak so the sonar signal "shoots through" the plastic hull.
Complete Installation Kit:
This kit includes everything you need for a permanent, waterproof installation: a specialized transducer cradle, surface preparation materials, and marine-grade slow-cure epoxy to ensure an air-free bond between the transducer and the hull.
- 2D Sonar Only: Do not use this kit with Down Imaging (DI) or Side Imaging (SI) transducers. High-frequency imaging beams cannot pass effectively through plastic kayak hulls. This is strictly for traditional 2D sonar.
- Hull Material Matters: This only works on solid, single-layer plastic or fiberglass hulls. It will not shoot through aluminum, wood, or hulls with a foam core layer.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to drill holes below the waterline?
No! That is the primary benefit of the MHX XMK kit. It uses a specialized marine adhesive to glue the transducer cradle to the inside bottom of your kayak hull, completely avoiding permanent holes below the waterline and eliminating drag.
Will this work with my Side Imaging unit?
No. Side Imaging and Down Imaging beams are highly sensitive and will be distorted or completely blocked by the plastic hull. This shoot-through technique is strictly for traditional 2D sonar (like the XNT 9 20 T).
Why do I need the special epoxy in this kit?
Standard superglue or silicone can trap microscopic air bubbles. Sonar signals cannot travel through air. The slow-cure epoxy included in the MHX XMK kit is specifically formulated to cure without air bubbles, ensuring a solid acoustic connection between the transducer and the kayak hull.
