What is the difference between MKR-MDI-1 and MKR-MDI-2?

It is all about the head unit. The MKR-MDI-1 is for HELIX 8, 9, 10, and 12. The MKR-MDI-2 (this cable) is specifically for the HELIX 7. They are not interchangeable.

Will this work with my old US2 motor?

No. The Universal Sonar 2 (US2) uses a completely different connector. If your motor says "US2" or "Universal Sonar," you need the MKR-US2-8 adapter for a HELIX 7. This cable is only for the newer "MEGA Down Imaging" motors.

Does this support Side Imaging?

No. This cable transmits the Down Imaging and 2D Sonar signal only. If you have a Side Imaging motor (MSI) and want to connect it to a HELIX 7 SI unit, you need a different adapter (MKR-MSI-2).
