What is the difference between this MKA-62 and the MKA-61?

Both are heavy-duty brackets designed for the QUEST series, but the MKA-62 is the "Long" version. It has a significantly larger footprint designed specifically to safely distribute the extreme leverage created by motors with 52-inch to 72-inch shafts. The MKA-61 is only for short 45-inch shafts.

Can I use this bracket if my Ultrex has a short 45-inch shaft?

Yes, you physically can mount a short-shaft Ultrex to this longer MKA-62 bracket, and it will be incredibly secure. However, most anglers with short shafts prefer the smaller MKA-61 to save deck space and reduce weight.

How does the locking mechanism work?

The bracket features a heavy-duty side-locking screw. As you tighten this side screw, it compresses the sliding upper and lower aluminum plates tightly together, creating a zero-play connection. It also features a slot where you can attach a standard padlock (not included) to prevent the side screw from being backed out, securing your motor from theft.
