⚠️ HELIX USER ALERT: If you are connecting this cable to a HELIX unit, you MUST purchase the AS EC QDE Adapter Dongle (sold separately) for EACH HELIX unit. This cable will not plug directly into a HELIX without it.

Is 5 feet long enough for a bow-to-console link?

No. 5 feet is very short. This cable is specifically designed for connecting two screens that are mounted right next to each other on the console, or dropping down into the console to plug into an Ethernet switch. For bow-to-console routing, you need a 20ft (AS EC 20E) or 30ft (AS EC 30E) cable.

Do I really need the adapter for my HELIX?

Yes. The port on the back of all HELIX units is a small, rectangular proprietary plug. This AS EC 5E cable has a round, threaded metal connector. The AS EC QDE dongle converts the square HELIX port to the round Ethernet port. You cannot plug this cable in without it.
